MOTA-ENGIL INNOVCENTER RECEIVES REWARD

InnovCenter receives international reward in the area of Innovation

“Ideas that make all the diference” is the motto of a platform developed by Mota-Engil, aimed at giving a voice to all the employees dispersed across a vast geographical area. More than 100 ideas have been presented so far. 40 are in the phase of development,

or already complete.

The InnovCenter platform of Mota-Engil was praised as one of the ten best intranets in 2011, by the Nielsen Norman Group.

According to the president of Nielsen Norman Group “Mota-Engil’s InnovCenter encourages, guides and tracks innovative ideas from inception to completion. A powerful tool for innovation, it inspires participation, informs contributors, enables decision-makers and results in successful innovation projects across the company”.

Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção’s InnovCenter is a platform that is open to all employees of the company, aimed at encouraging a sharing of ideas and experiences and developing them. This platform was developed in a partnership between Mota-Engil Engenharia, which contributed know-how of management and innovation, and WeListen, which provided consultancy and software development that really supports this management, based on Telligent technology, leader in the area of collaborative software.

Through this platform, Mota-Engil recognizes the potential of its employees, dispersed across a vast geographical area.

Through the InnovCenter, the group aims to give a voice to the employees with highest potential, as a follow-up to the welcome message of InnovCenter: “Have you ever thought that your idea could make a diference?”.

The expansion of this platform was made by department, and currently includes around 500 employees from eight Divisions of the company. Seven months after its implementation, some 100 ideas have been presented, of which 40 are now being developed, or already completed.

Each employee can submit an idea on the platform that meets a challenge faced by the organization which, in turn, can be commented on and improved by other members of the organization. Next, the most innovative projects are submitted for approval by the Innovation Committee, consisting of members of the Board of Administrators and Executive Directions of the MEEC.

If the project is approved, the platform provides project management tools. It allows the user to access a plan, control the costs, and analyze the risks. Each new project also has tools for sharing information, and suggestions.
