The essential message of Jorge Coelho about the Mota-Engil Group is one of trust: “Investors can trust a Group that has a strategy that reality shows everyday that it is the most correct one; you can trust the thousands of people that work here and who constantly give their best for the Group, as a whole, to top all expectations; you can trust in a Group whose main shareholders are fully interconnected with the management of the Group’s main goals. We want to and know how to honour the corporate heritage of our founder, Manuel António da Mota, and the history of 65 years of success. We know our course – One single Group, one single project and one single strategy”. The Mota-Engil CEO repeats with assurance: “I will not let the negative spirit that has struck Portugal invade me. We have to take action and we have to do that in the countries in which we are operating”.

The ofce in Linda-a-Velha is from where this man born in Contenças (Mangualde) 57 years ago, CEO of Mota-Engil since May 2008, steers the “expansion and acceleration” of the intense diversifcation and internationalisation strategy of the Group which is today in the words of the CEO “much more that just a building company”: It is a “group with international dimension, and a sound economy and a series of businesses for which it defned a development strategywhichallows it to face, with difculties as we know, but with the guarantee of sustainability, the international and national crisis we are crossing. We are endeavouring to compensate in the international market that which is not possible in Portugal thus structuring the Company in order to prepare it for new and greater international challenges”.
