THE 2013 RESULTS
On 31 March, the Group presented to its
shareholders and market the 2013 annual
results.
The operative results were the best ever.
It was also the sign of the positive
evolution the Group shows, translated into
an ongoing and sustained improvement of
the main economic-financial indicators.
In a still fragile economic context, although
with tenuous signs of improvement,
the Mota-Engil performance shows the
ability that the Group has to diversify
markets and find growth alternatives,
of overcoming the difficulties that the
national crisis, unparalleled in the
construction sector, seemed to condition
us as if it were something inevitable.
To that end, the work of our entire staff, the
success of the strategy and determination
in pursuing it were decisive and I note it
with deep satisfaction and sense of sharing.
Abroad we reached 74% of our turnover
which confirms the deep change of the
Group’s profile, today a consolidated
multinational.
This situation, anticipated by a long-
established strategy, makes us rethink even
more the organizational model, leading us
to decentralize even more our skills and
areas, ensuring, in turn, cohesion, unity
THE EXHIBIT ABOUT THE GROUP’S
FOUNDATION AND FOUNDER
On January 7, the Manuel António da Mota
Foundation inaugurated an exhibition
about the foundation of the Group which
is entwined with the life and pulsing of its
founder.
A remarkable exhibition, based on the
gathering of photographic documents
and others about the start of our Group,
with testimonies of the people who
lived those times and with interactive
elements demonstrative of the process,
development and consolidation of the
Mota-Engil Group.
Above all, a story of an entrepreneur of
exception, aware of its abilities and with
an unyielding will to build a project with
vision and dimension, that has lasted for
almost 70 years, with undeniable success.
A life story and a life of stories, which
the memory retrieves from the past,
endowing us the teachings and values in
order to do more and better collectively.
A Group with the dimension of ours ought
to base on its history the will to undertake,
the need to grow, to be the best within our
business goals, the assertion in the societies
where we operate with responsibility and
high ethical and social criteria.
May the past be the example we are
looking for.
