Mota-Engil Peru, in partnership with
the Stracon company, completed the
construction of a tailings dam for the
mining company Chinalco in Toromocho
with a contract worth in the region of 147
million dollars, equivalent to 107.5 million
euros.
The project involved the construction of a
dam with over 5,000,000 cubic metres of
filling material, the removal of 1,300,000
cubic metres of waste material, the
exploitation of aquarryandtheconstruction
of an access road for heavy loads over
5 kilometres long and 25 metres wide.
Toromocho is located to the west of Lima
in the mining district of Morococha, in the
province of Yauli Junín at an altitude of
4,500 metres.

Total contract worth in the
region of 147 million dollars
The Mining Company Cerro Verde,
through the company Fluor, awarded
construction and support contracts
for work on the expansion of mining
operations relating to K101 (33.3 million
dollars, equivalent to 24.4 million
euros), K136A (18.9 million dollars,
equivalent to 13.8 million euros), and
K 141 (32.7 million dollars, equivalent to
23.9 million euros) to Mota-Engil Peru.
The works include earthworks, exca-
vations and landfilling, installation
of pipes, carbon steel, PVC and laying
of foundations, building of access
roads, a transport corridor, a tunnel
and civil construction works for the
Waste Water Treatment Plant.
