MOTA‐ENGIL CARRIES OUT WORKS
IN THE GOUVÃES HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT
THE WORKS INVOLVES SEVERAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENTS OF THE COMPANY, ONCE AGAIN SHOWING THE GROUP’S ABILITY TO PERFORM IN LARGE PROJECTS.
The contract signed with Iberdrola in a consortium, which also includes Acciona and Edivisa, has a value
of 49,586,578 euros
and an execution period of 40 months.
M ota‐Engil is working on the Intake Tunnel of the Gouvães
Hydroelectric Project, which is part of a set of infrastructures of the Alto Tâmega electricity production system, one of the largest hydroelectric projects in Europe.
The contract signed with Iberdrola in a consortium, which also includes Acciona and Edivisa, has a value
of 49,586,578 euros and an execution period of 40 months.
The contract includes the execution of the elements of the hydraulic circuit such as the water intake, the  oodgate pit, the intake tunnel and the stand pipe, as well
as the C15 access, connecting the EN‐206 road to the crowning of the future Gouvães dam.
Mota‐Engil, as the Consortium’s leader (42.5%), also has other departments of the company working on the contract, developing speci c engineering activities, namely concerning special foundations (execution of slope support, micro piles and anchorage), geotechnics (tests in the stand pipe), aggregates (excavation of the intake tunnel via drill & blast), electromechanics (electrical installation, including transformation substations) and concrete (installation of a concrete production centre, with a capacity of 80 m3/hour).
