BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE MAIN
ELEMENTS THAT MAKE UP THE WORK
WATER INTAKE
It is a reinforced concrete structure that is in construction, partly buried, with a total length of 61 metres. Its section is shaped as a trunk and has variable dimensions. It features two side walls, two partitioning walls and two beams supporting the intake grilles.
FLOODGATE
It is a reinforced concrete structure, with a free inner diameter of 8.30 m and an approximate height of 20 m.
INTAKE TUNNEL
It will have a diameter of 7.30 m after concrete coating and an approximate length of 4,600 m, from the centre of the  oodgate pit, at the water intake in Gouvães
and the beginning of the pressured piping, after the stand pipe. Its excavation is being carried out in four simultaneous fronts: one from the south, two intermediate and one from the north.
STAND PIPE
It is located vertically at PK 4+620 of the intake tunnel. It was designed with a free internal diameter of
21 m (after concrete coating) and with an approximate height of 74 m from the level of 913.00 m to its intersection with the intake tunnel at level
839.00 m. The lining of the pipe is a reinforced concrete ring with a thickness of 1 m up to the level of 908.00 m. The outer part, above that level, will also be built in concrete.
