LINKS AND RELEVANCE
TO THE FUTURE
These motorways feature an extension almost equivalent to the A1 Motorway, in Portugal. In fact, one of the main bene ts of this road project lies in the fact that the Tuxpan and Cardell roads connect with each other through an already existing road, which together represent a crucial communication and transportation system for the northeast region of the country, mainly Tamaulipas and all of the state of Veracruz. This project is an APP (Autopista Público Privada – Private Public Motorway), with the investment of USD 204 million, making this road work one of the most important in the past six years in Mexico.
Mota‐Engil Mexico will be responsible for building, operating, exploiting, preserving and maintaining the works for 30 years, through the Concessionária Autopista Cardel – Poza Rica S.A. de C.V. and Concessionária Autopista Tuxpan
– Tampico S.A. de C.V, concessionaire companies.
ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE: A KEY PART OF A STRATEGIC AXIS FOR DEVELOPMENT
The development of these roads, along with the Veracruz harbour extension with ve new terminals, is part of
a strategic plan by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation
of Mexico to position the state of Veracruz as a location of important economic development, not only nationally, but also internationally. This goal will be re ected in a wide‐ranging improvement for the population since, previously, the roads did not have adequate or safety conditions for transportation.
With this project, Mota‐Engil Mexico consolidates as one of the most important companies in the sector
of road infrastructures, developing communication networks of the highest quality, which contribute to the development of the country.
