MOTA‐ENGIL IS DEVELOPING THREE IMPORTANT PROJECTS IN THE CITY OF BARRANQUILLA.

The duration of these works is 18 and 24 months, respectively, and represent an investment of 68 million dollars.
O n a visit to Barranquilla, Colombia, the President of the
Mota‐Engil Group, António Mota, got to know the projects which the
company has underway in this city. Accompanied by the Mayor, Alejandro Char, and by a few leaders of Mota‐Engil Colombia, António Mota was able to verify on the construction site the work completed in the  rst stage of the Grande Malecón del Rio Magdalena, which includes “Functional Unit 1 and 2”. This project – composed of a wide river front, access roads, leisure and sports areas, pedestrian areas and shopping areas – represents a key work in terms of infrastructure, since it enables a road connection between the city and the river in the country.
In addition to this visit, António Mota also got to know the work Mota‐Engil carried out in a partnership and which will solve the problem of open seepage in the city, which has a icted Barranquilla for years.
RELEVANT PROJECTS FOR
A WORLD‐CLASS DEVELOPMENT Barranquilla is a city of great importance since it is the main economic centre of the Caribbean region of Colombia. Therefore, and in order to boost development and openness to the world, in 2016, Mota‐Engil Colombia embraced the project “Construction of the Pier, green corridor and Avenida del Río on the banks of River Magdalena, Functional Unit 1 – Barranquilla”. Later in the year, the company was awarded the construction work for the second phase, “Functional Unit 2 Phase A – Phase B”. The duration of these works
is 18 and 24 months, respectively, and represent an investment of 68 million dollars.
These two works include the creation
of green areas, open spaces for cultural events, sanitary facilities and LED lighting, and are near the Caribe Puerta de Oro Exhibition Centre, which puts
