The contract for the construction of secondary roads, irrigation and drainage networks of the Covilhã Block and hydroagricultural usage of Cova da Beira was completed.

The Covilhã Block, located between the Cova da Beira canal and the River Zêzere, was divided into the Peraboa (973 ha) and Ferro (670 ha) sub-blocks. The overall work totalled 11.3 million euros.

In the irrigation network, the sub-blocks features independent water sources: the Peraboa one started at the Peraboa reservoir inlet, fed by inlet 8 of the general

conducting canal; the Ferro one started at the Ferro reservoir inlet, fed by inlet 9 of the general conducting canal.

The works on the irrigation network comprised the civil construction and earthmoving works and the supply, assembling and installation of equipment.

In the road network, 21 pathways were rehabilitated totalling around 30.5 km. Works were practically carried out to pathways in bad conditions. Six types of aqueducts with rectangular sections were built.
