VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE
The Mota-Engil Training Centre began operating in 1997 and has now 13 years of training experience. Framed within MESP - the Group's shared services company accredited as a training entity by DGERT - it promotes training initiatives for youth within the Dual Apprenticeship System. In conjunction with IEFP, it provides answers to all those who seek a skill, thereby promoting their vocational integration or reintegration.
Level III initial qualifcation courses are taught, allowing students to reach Year 12 and vocational certifcation in their respective training area. There are currently 6 on-going apprenticeship courses: Works Technician, Measurement and Budgeting Technician, Safety and Hygiene Technician, Electrical Installations Technician, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician, and Administrative Technician.
The Group's objective is to increase the range of training and skills, as illustrated by the recent inauguration of Centro de Formação de Angola (Training Centre of Angola), in Luanda, and the start-up of construction on the Mota-Engil Training Centre, in Malawi. In Oporto, Portugal, the Mota-Engil Group is also concerned with improving training conditions and quality. Included here is the move to new premises, located in Quinta da Bonjóia, east of
Oporto, in Campanhã. This is a place which is geographically very close to the old premises and the Group's headquarters, allowing students to continue using the same means of transport and enjoying the canteen's meal service.
In the future, the Vocational Training Centre intends to widen training to Level IV Technological Specialization Courses and modular training, thus, responding to the in-house needs of the Group's diferent areas.
Within the scope of its transition to the Manuel António da Mota Foundation, it also intends to develop its range of training so that it meets existing needs within an area of town with a shortage in answers insofar as social development, enabling young people to enrol in a training plan that allows them to acquire skills that contribute towards their personal, social and professional development.
The Mota-Engil Training Centre is now implanted in a large modern building, designed from the ground up as a training centre with excellent classroom conditions and very pleasant surroundings. It is unique in the city of Oporto since it is an estate with a wide green space and gardens that invite you to walk and escape the stress of everyday life.
Students and all those working there are very happy with the change and aim to make the Mota-Engil Training Centre, a training centre of reference not only in the construction area, where the Group is a leader, but also as a model of answers within a context of sustainability and social responsibility integrated within its surroundings.
