A workshop was organised by the CCE
at the end of 2013 to look at the finan-
cing of projects. Does this continue to be
one of the main challenges for portugue-
se companies?
The workshop that we held on the
financing of projects was of great
importance.
The active participation of engineer
João Cravinho along with that of
ambassador Seixas da Costa provided
us with detailed information on what is
going on in the world and in particular in
International financial organisations.
Right now the financing of new projects is a
challengewhich separates the paralysation
of the business from sustained growth.
Now, just as always, we need to go on
having sustained growth and for this we
need to identify the most diverse and the
most appropriate sources of finance for
each project which is decisive.
I find that the Group is working with
a great deal of professionalism in this
area and the current operation to launch
Mota-Engil Africa on the stock market is
a great example which should make us all
extremely proud.
Today as always, the Mota-Engil Group
is opening up new paths to find new
solutions and new models.

How do you see the economic deve-
lopment of the regions of Europe, Africa
and Latin America over the coming
years and their potential for the Group?
Each of these regions has different
characteristics and will need to have a
strategy fitted to them.
This is the right way and with it new and
greater responsibilities arise for everyone.
However, in my opinion, the Mota-
Engil Group needs to be preserved and
strengthened as a Group with identical
principals and values throughout the
world supporting a global strategy with
unique objectives and a strong global
management.
I am certain that this is what is going to
happen because the Group is in good hands
from the point of view of the shareholder
as well as from that of those who run the
company in executive management.

The CCE was formed a year ago. What is
your assessment of its first year of activity?
My assessment is positive. The quality of
the people who make up the CCE have
transformed it into a Prospects Reflection
Centre.
We have held seven meetings in 2013 from
which results have emerged which are of
great utility for the life of the Group.
There is no doubt that in today’s highly
competitive society, there are advantages
for those who include the best, as their life
experience, their knowledge and experience
always bring positive results. The Mota-Engil
Group at all levels has the best. These are the
company’s greatest asset.
The CCE seeks – and I know that this is a
response to the challenge which has been
thrown down in the area of knowledge
and experience and strategic reflection
