APRIL 2011
The Mota-Engil brand reached the highest Peak in Mexico. Integrating a personal experience connected to physical challenges and the pleasure of mountaineering, Ricardo Almeida, co-responsible for the administrative and fnancial area of CAPEXA – Constructora Autopista Perote Xalapa, reached the Orizaba Peak (the 3 rd highest in North America) on 6 March at 09:40 and hoisted the Mota-Engil fag, seeking to convey the ambition of the Group in Mexico in a mixture of personal fulflment and joy, because this was the highest point he had ever reached. In this adventure,
Ricardo counted with the precious help of a guide, Alfredo Lefozy.
The climb took eight hours and forty minutes and then four hours and a half downhill. As Mota-Engil is a fundamental part of his life, Ricardo was at the time carrying in his bag a fag, many hours of training and adaptation to the weather conditions and loads of motivation from his colleagues, including those at Isolux-Corsan, part of the consortium. “I learnt how to value the environment even more. I will never forget the beauty of the frst sun beams on a glacier 5000 meters above sea level! It is a jewel that we all have to help preserve, because it is impossible to recreate it. At personal level this experience has aforded me great enrichment allowing me to revalue all that is very dear to me and to revalidate the power of believing and of wanting to overcome our limitations”, underlined Ricardo.
