Mota-Engil Indústria e Inovação (MEII), a new business area of Grupo Mota-Engil, AICEP and Caixa Geral de Depósitos, signed a Partnership Agreement, on March 4, to formalize the involvement of these three entities to ofer fnancial and operational support of the national SMCs (small and medium sized companies) that are seeking to internationalize.

Presented by the president of MEII, Eng. Arnaldo Figueiredo, the project “Internacionalizar em Parceria” (Internationalize in Partnership) will provide 300 million euro in the frst three years of the project.

Grupo Mota-Engil, AICEP and Caixa Geral de Depósitos assume a private equity role, through capital subscription to fnance part of the projects of the national SMCs.

The volume of investments in question – 300 million euro – will be applied in the frst threemonths of the project.

This participation is divided between Mota-Engil Indústria e Inovação (which will

assume not more than 30% of the share), AICEP, and Capital Global e a Caixa Capital whichmay jointly assume up to 19%.

This initiative will also enable the Portuguese SMCs in the industrial sector to invest in growth in external markets, particularly in more than a dozen markets where GrupoMota-Engil operates.

The president of the Board of Administrators of Mota-Engil Group, António Mota, highlighted the importance of the project, not only for the promoters, but for the country as awhole.

“This importance is due not only to the results achieved by this project, but even more vitally, to the fact that it could represent for the small national economic groups with greater international experience”, Eng. António Mota emphasized.
