The company Terminal de Contentores de Leixões, TCL, was recently presented with two awards for the excellence of its performance.
The "Exame" magazine awarded the company with the Prize for the Best PME (Small and Medium-sized Business) in the area of Transport and Distribution in 2010, as part of the "500 Biggest and Best Portuguese Companies" initiative run annually by the publication. The company reached 32 nd place in the ranking.
For the managers, being singled out for the third time, after 2005 and 2008, as the Best Company in their sector "is a reason to be satisfed and a recognition of the work that has been done since the start of the concession in 2000, to make TCL - and the Port of Leixões - a point
of reference in the logistic chains on the Iberian Peninsula".
The company also won the prize awarded by the "Transporte e Negócios" magazine, when votes from all over the country named it the Best Container Terminal in Portugal. It has been winning this award since the beginning, around 10 years ago.
TCL, part of the Tertir Group, is the largest container terminal in the country and takes up an area of almost 16 hectares. It serves the entire northern region of the country and part of Galicia, and it is a key logistics platform for exports.
It began operations in May 2000 with a concession for operating the North and South terminals of the Port of Leixões.
