Manvia has been operating since 2007 in the port maintenance area and has a metalworking shop in Lisbon. It also collaborates with other companies in mobile repairs at the Alverca, Entroncamento, Alfarelos and Setúbal terminals.

several contracts with its customers thus feeling the need to expand its business, geographically speaking.

Thus, as of November 2011 the company’s intervention area was reinforced when it started managing a container depot in the Northen Portugal, Freixieiro-Porto.

At this plant, in addition to the depot service/parking of containers it provides it also ensures the total repair of the latter and this will allow customers to use them adequately in the future. For such purpose, it has a team operating at this plant with around 40,000 m 2 , allowing the handling (entry and exit of containers) of around 30 thousand containers per year.

Manvia has thus attained, as pertains the need for service quality, investment in equipment, working conditions and the conditions within the plant.

The first benefits have already been harvested with the celebration of the co-operation contract with some shipping companies – an estimated increase of around 1,000 containers handled per year. These are small steps that envisage a long but clear course.

Manviasponsoredthe5 th annualFacility Management Symposium which took place inOctober at Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão – ISEG (Institute of EconomicsandManagement).Underthe theme “Turnaround – The contribution of FM in the recovery of economy”, this symposium featured guest speakers and the presentation of case- -studies and it included also a debate in which all those present could intervene and provide various views on said subject. The workshops were attended by professor João Duque, president of ISEG, who covered the theme “New challenges of the new economic framework”.Inadditiontotheassociates, many customers of outsourcing service solutions also attended the symposium.

According to Manvia this sponsorship is in line with the strategy of participating actively in forums where maintenance is addressed and discussed in order to enhance the importance of outsourcing when associated to the customer’s asset. The aim is to also add synergies of inputs leading to specialisation, professionalism and economy.
