Manvia responsible for the Energy Certification
The Manvia Energy Efciency Division was awarded two major contracts for the energy certifcation of six service buildings of Parque Escolar situated at Av. 24 de Julho and Av. Infante Santo, in Lisbon, and the energy and air quality certifcation of municipal buildings in Faro, namely the municipal swimming Pool, Teatro das Figuras and the Municipal Library.
For Parque Escolar, along the preparation of the projects there will be two audits to the buildings to check and analyse their characteristics, such as building elements, lighting solutions and air-conditioning systems. Subsequently a geometrical model will be created in a dynamic simulation programme accredited by ASHRAE 140/2004 to assess the building’s energy performance. Once the audit has been concluded the suggested measures are implemented thus improving the performance and the energy consumption of the building. Investment cost, reduction of burden following the implementation and the respective payback period of investment will then be presented.
For the municipal buildings of Faro, service rendering comprises:
› energy audit;
› dynamic simulation of buildings;
› preparation of a energy saving plan and an estimate of costs for the proposed corrective measures;
› audit to indoor air quality (IAQ);
› preparation of the report by the qualifed expert (Energy and IAQ);
› energy certifcate issued by the qualifed expert (energy and IAQ);
› audit to boilers featuring rated output higher than 20kW in accordance with article 20 of RSECE;
› preparation of the preventive maintenance plan for the buildings according to the provisions of article 19 of Decree-law 79/2006 of 4 April.
The latter involved 26 companies. Manvia submitted the proposal with the best value for money for the services which are to be carried out within a period of 24 weeks.

In the last quarter of 2011 the concessionaire Estradas do Zambeze started its assistance and monitoring operations. Estradas do Zambeze is responsible for the construction of the new bridge over the Zambezi river which will take four years and the construction of the new 16-km road that will give access to the bridge as well as the permanent monitoring and maintenance of 700 km of roads in the Tete province for a 30-year period. The construction of the new bridge was subcontracted by the concessionaire Estradas do Zambeze to a consortium comprised by Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção, Soares da Costa Moçambique and Opway Moçambique. The start of this operation was marked by a ceremony attended by the governor of the Tete Province and the mayors of the municipalities of Tete and Moatize.

The chairman of the board of directors of theconcessionaire,AntónioGraça,thegeneral director, Jorge Valério, and the operation manager, Luís Ferreira were also present at the ceremony. The facilities, equipment and respective employees were also presented on this day. According to António Graça, this operation represents “a commitment that Estradas do Zambeze assumed with the Mozambican people and government” in a lasting relationship of proximity and hoping that “it is of the satisfaction of both parties”. The road network in the Tete province is one of the networks with most accidents. So several measures will be taken such as increase in speed control, level of inspection of heavy vehicles, reinforcement of trafc signs, amongst others. all the necessary support will be provided, namelywhen the car breaks down, when the car has run out of fuel and when accidents occur”.
