MOTA-ENGIL PERU
An example in the internationalisation of the Group
The company
Despite Translei being in business since 1986, the Group Mota-Engil dates back to 1998 when part of that company was acquired by both Mota & C.ª and Engil, just before they merged in a business process of clear success of corporate understanding. At that time, Translei was already a specialized company in this business area, mainly rendering engineering services related to earthmoving works and related work for the exploration of mining concessions.
With a path marked by the increasing recognition of its work, the company
gradually consolidated its way into the Peruvian market; nowadays it is one of the top fve most competitive companies in its business area in this market.
In 2010, Translei started using the Mota-Engil Peru business designation, working under local Peruvian law, perfectly integrated in the country, pursuing an oriented strategy to increase the investment made in a country where, for the past 13 years, it has shown great business results.
25 years and a future- oriented strategy
2011 is known as an important symbolic year for the company which celebrated its 25 th anniversary on September 28 th.
For Mota-Engil Peru, 2011 was also a remarkable year because it created the necessary conditions to stimulate the development of the Organization, by inaugurating a new ofce in the city of Lima, on 6 th July. The CEO of the Group, Jorge Coelho, the Peruvian minister of Transport and Communications, Enrique Cornejo, and the Portuguese ambassador in Peru, Nuno de Bessa Lopes, were present at the ceremony, stressing the institutional recognition of the role that Mota-Engil has played in the development of this country.
The new facilities have prepared the company in an efcient way to face its growth over the years and defnitely pushed it to a new level of performance. There’s plenty of ambition to reach such goal.
The ongoing
diversification strategy
Once established in the Peruvian market, Mota-Engil Peru, following the strategic guidelines established by the Plan “Ambition 2013”, started working with subsidiary companies of the Group, in order to achieve its main goal: to diversify the company’s activity in this market.
In 2011, Mota-Engil Peru celebrated its 25 th anniversary,
inaugurated a new ofce, extended its activity to new business areas and achieved its
best invoicing year. The company corresponded well to the expectations that the Group’s CEO, Jorge Coelho,
referred when presenting the results for 2010,when he said that “Peru is the star
market for 2011”
