Held in the Presidential Palace, the
audience granted by the Angolan Head of
State José Eduardo dos Santos to António
Mota, the Chairman of the Board of
Directors of the Mota-Engil Group, in an
initiative combining a series of audiences
with overseas business representatives,
addressed the matter of investments
promoting the economic development of
the Republic of Angola.
In the case of Mota-Engil, with close links
with the country where it first started
and always maintained operations, the
commitment to the economic and social
development of Angoladates back to the time
of the founder of the Group, Manuel António
da Mota, which António Mota makes a point
of preserving inhis confidence inAngola as a
regional power, a role which the nation today
assumes in the African panorama.
With a history which makes Mota-Engil
Angola – a company formed with Angolan
investors including Sonangol and Grupo
Atlântico – the biggest locally-based
construction company as a result of ongoing
reinvestment in the company, its personnel
and in new contracts which generate the
employment and the improved skills of
Angolan employees, the Chairman of the
Board António Mota announced on leaving
the meeting to the waiting journalists
that shortly Mota-Engil will form two
new industrial companies, one for the re-
treading and recycling of tyres and the
other linked with the construction and
assembly of high- and low-voltage grids, an
infrastructure area essential for Angola.
According to António Mota, for the
construction of these enterprises which
have the seal of approval of the ANIP
(National Private Investment Agency), 266
million kwanzas (almost 2 million euros)
are to be invested.
