VISITS MOTA‐ENGIL’S ACTIVITY IN CÔTE D’IVOIRE
MARCELO REBELO DE SOUSA VISITED THE TRANSFER CENTRE OF THE WASTE COMPANY ECO EBURNIE, ACCOMPANIED BY ANTÓNIO MOTA.
W ithin the scope of the strategy of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Côte
d’Ivoire and Portugal, the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, made a presidential visit to Côte d’Ivoire, where several initiatives were included in the programme, including an Economic Forum in which Mota‐Engil participated, in addition to
a visit to the Anguédédou Transfer Centre built by Mota‐Engil for the waste company Eco Eburnie, a company in which Mota‐Engil Africa has a stake
and which is responsible for collecting waste and for the urban cleaning of a relevant part of Abidjan over the next seven years.
As Mota‐Engil is the largest Portuguese investor in the country, the Portuguese President made a point of visiting the premises, where he was accompanied by the Vice‐President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Daniel Kablan Duncan, as well as by the Minister of Health and Sanitation, Anne Désirée Ouloto.
Receiving the visit was the Chairman of the Group, António Mota, who on the occasion mentioned that “the visit of the President
of the Portuguese Republic represented a relevant political milestone for the strong support given to Portuguese companies in the promotion of Portuguese investment
in Côte d’Ivoire, as well as for the visit made to our facilities, which served as a stimulus to all those at Mota‐Engil who
are developing the waste management operation in Abidjan, something that we have developed from scratch and that we now have in full operation, and we should also praise and thank the extreme care and attention that he devoted to us for the words of encouragement and for making it a point to greet everyone at the Unit, in a symbolic moment which we very much acknowledge.”
