The small roof of the existing stadium on the main stand was removed, being replaced, at a higher level, by a new structure manufactured by Martifer – Construções Metálicas, which covers the entire main stand, and thus
the five thousand seats.
In the area surrounding the stadium, the project includes the construction of an adjoining field that will serve for training and includes a covered stand with one thousand seats, under which changing rooms, bathrooms, infirmary, offices and sanitary facilities were built.
With regard to the sports areas of the stadiums (main and training), natural lawns were developed by Vibeiras, equipped with automatic irrigation systems and athletic tracks with synthetic floor (main stadium with eight tracks and training stadium with six tracks), in accordance with the requirements of the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations).
In addition to the sports complex already portrayed, the project incorporates the construction of a 4‐star hotel that will be a reference in the city of Garoua and in the entire northern region of Cameroon, with a capacity of 70 rooms, 63 of which are doubles, six suites and a presidential suite.
The hotel is also equipped with various sports and leisure infrastructures, including a multipurpose sports field,
a gymnasium, two swimming pools (one inside and the one outside), a SPA, a squash court, a conference room, a bar and a restaurant.
All constructions are in the finishing and installation of infrastructure phase. We are also working on parks and landscaping, as well as on the surface of the athletic tracks.
The grass football pitches are at the end of the grow‐in phase, which will be followed by the continuous maintenance phase.
