As an example, he mentioned, “in 2014 we had 29 Mozambican graduates, of whom only 10 were under 30 years old. Now we have 70 Mozambican graduates, of whom 50 are under 30 years old, which makes us very proud and demonstrates our firm commitment to the qualification of those who will be the company’s future.”
THE RECOGNITION OF QUALITY
Aníbal Leite stated that quality has
to come first as the decisive factor to establish strong relationships of trust with our clients. On this topic, he highlighted, “one of our steps towards
differentiation in construction in Mozambique was the certification of Quality Management by the ISO 9001 Standard that we have held since
2014, making us the first Construction company in Mozambique to obtain this certification”, a fact that in addition to the reference works carried out over the past few years, has contributed to our having ensured market leadership, now having more than 2,500 workers in the different sectors of activity.
PROJECTS UNDERWAY
With a diversified portfolio, the Group has been investing significantly in Mozambique, which is currently
the second largest contributor to the Group’s activity in Africa. Aníbal Leite acknowledged, with evident pride, “we have mobilised resources and have always put at the disposal of the country the technical knowledge and recognised experience that we have to ensure numerous works of reference for the present and future of Mozambique.”
Motivated by the confidence in the country and its potential development, Mota‐Engil Mozambique has carried out reference projects such as the Armando Emílio Guebuza Bridge (Caia), the Kassuende Base Bridge (Tete), the Sena Railway Corridor, the Umbelúzi River Railway Bridge, the Platinum Building, the Mavalane Hospital, the Grand Plaza Hotel in Nampula, several works in the Port of Maputo, the Cuamba‐Lichinga railway line, the Chimoio‐Espungabera, Milange‐Mocuba roads, the construction and expansion of the Heineken Factory, among other projects in the area of Civil Construction. Last year we started, for the Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC), the execution of two port works contracts, namely the rehabilitation of piers 6, 7, 8 and the deepening of pier 9.”
Regarding infrastructure contracts associated with mining operations, the involvement in the construction of the logistics network, which is crucial to the transportation of coal, with
