LAS BAMBAS TAILINGS DAM CONSIDERED THE WORK WITH THE BEST SAFETY INDICATORS IN 2018
MOTA‐ENGIL HONOURED ITS THREE SAFEST WORKS, PROVING THAT ORGANISATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ARE ONE
OF THE GROUP’S STRATEGIC PILLARS.
Mota‐Engil recently disclosed the Safety Awards for 2018, after analysing the indicators of all the markets where it operates. The aim of this initiative is to promote the importance of strengthening the culture of organisational health and safety within the Group.
Among all the projects, the company chose the Las Bambas Tailings Dam
in Peru, as the best, since this project recorded 1.8 million man‐hours without any accident in 2018 (and it has also achieved the remarkable milestone of
8 million man‐hours since the beginning of the project without any accident).
In 2nd place was the construction of Bugesera Airport, in Rwanda, with over 1.4 million man‐hours without
any accident, and in 3rd place the construction of the Mondego Dredging, in Portugal, with over 92 thousand man‐hours without accidents.
This initiative was launched in April 2018, when the new Occupational Health
and Safety Policy and the regulations for the award of this Safety Award were announced.
The Board of Directors of the Mota‐Engil Group thus recognises and congratulates those responsible for each
of these projects for their commitment, competence and concern, and maintains the commitment of monitoring this
topic closely to recognise the merit of its professionals.
