STUDENT RESIDENCE IN PORTO
AT A GOOD PACE
MOTA‐ENGIL PREPARES TO DELIVER 582 ROOMS TO STUDENTS IN THE CITY OF PORTO.
M ota‐Engil, Engenharia e Construção S.A. was awarded
the second phase of the contract for the construction of a student residence in the city of Porto at the end of 2018.
This contract, with a contract value of around 20 million euros, and a period of 14 months, involves the construction of a building approximately 30 metres above the ground.
Consisting of two basements, the levels of floors 0 and 1 have a “U” configuration enabling the creation of a square/ garden inside them, developing into two separate towers from floors 2 to 8.
THE BUILDING
• The underground floors are reserved for parking, technical areas and a cinema.

• On the ground floor, we find a
gymnasium, a library with two study rooms, a sauna, two dining rooms, a games room, a bar, a swimming pool and 36 single rooms with a private terrace.

• Floor 1 consists of 97 double rooms, 1
for people with reduced mobility and
two community kitchens. 
• Floors 2 to 6 consist of 36 single rooms in each tower (72 rooms per floor).

• Floor 7 consists of 22 double rooms,
a communal kitchen and a terrace
with a bar in each tower. 
• Floor 8 comprises 22 individual rooms in each tower.
The building has 582 rooms with
a maximum occupancy of 723 students. The rooms are approximately 15 m2, including private bathroom
and kitchen.
The façades are mainly made up
of sandwich panels covered with a stretched mesh, and the south‐ and north‐facing façades are made up of cappotto, the latter being expected to have an urban art intervention.
