WITH THIS INVESTMENT, RESIESTRELA WILL PROMOTE THE REUSE OF ALL THE RECEIVED BIODEGRADABLE MUNICIPAL WASTE.
Resiestrela, concessionaire of EGF
at Cova da Beira, increased its biodegradable municipal waste (BMW) processing capacity with a €1,137,400 investment in the installation of new maturation facilities for biodegradable municipal wastes.
This investment will make it possible
to reduce the amount of BMW placed in landfill, through the increased capacity of the existing mechanical and biological treatment, thereby meeting the goals established by PERSU 2020.
The construction of a covered biological treatment (maturation) facility expanded the existing maturation area of the municipal solid waste treatment plant at Fundão, as well as the acquisition of pile turning equipment for organic material.
This will ensure the treatment of an additional 10,000t of BMW to obtain a quality organic compost that complies with legislation on fertilising materials.
With this investment, Resiestrela will be able to reuse all the BMW received, preventing part of the organic material in the waste from being placed in a
sanitary landfill. This investment is part of an application approved by POSEUR – Operational Programme for Sustainability and Efficient Use of Resources, with 85% financing.
