MANUEL COSTA
Director of SUMA
at the Business Excellence Awards.
The voting was by an independent jury panel, which included specialists of the sector and winners of prior editions of the event.
At the national level, for the third consecutive year, SUMA was classified as “Trusted Brand – Environment”,
in the category of “Waste Treatment Companies”. Seeing that this award
is voted on directly by a significant sampling of the Portuguese population, it reveals the relationship of the standards of quality of the operations and the trust
established in the partnerships of which SUMA is a part.
These awards, added to previous awards in the areas of management, innovation and excellence in interventions,
reaffirm the recognition of SUMA's commitment and its role in maintaining the quality of life of local residents in terms of the environment, and its close working relationship with residents and municipalities that are its customers, some of whom have been in partnership with SUMA for almost as long as SUMA has been in existence.

SUMA FIGHTS
SINGLE-USE PLASTIC
The company continues to pursue its commitment to expand good environmental practices.
SUMA has distributed water bottles made of recycled glass to all its
domestic structures in line with its continuing commitment to the principles of environmental and financial sustainability, including the fight against waste in the workplace.
This initiative is yet another incentive for the consumption of water from the public utility – added to the previous change in the supply format, through dispensers with an incorporated filter system in the head
office, and the distribution of canteens to the workers as a means of adhering to the principles of cost‐cutting routines (in this case, by eliminating the plastic packaging used for mineral water and the resources used in their manufacturing – such as petroleum and the water itself).
These new reusable receptacles are an evidence of the values of sustainability that justify the option for this new format, and, at the same time, promote good practices throughout the organisation.
“H2OPTIMUM”
Water bottles made of recycled glass
The saving of money and energy, ease of access, and the constant quality control of the domestic public water supply are some of the arguments presented that transform the use of H2O in the SUMA head office and service centres into “H2Optimum”!
