MANVIA GUARANTEES TOTAL MAINTENANCE OF
EGF’S MOTOR‐GENERATORS
A SET OF 38 MOTOR‐GENERATORS FROM EIGHT EGF GROUP COMPANIES DISTRIBUTED FROM NORTH TO SOUTH OF THE COUNTRY.
Manvia has signed a three‐year contract to provide full preventive and corrective maintenance for a set of 38 motor‐ generators at 8 EGF Group companies, located from one end of the country to the other: Algar (6), Amarsul (7), Valnor (3), Resiestrela (2), ERSUC (11), Resinorte (6), Resulima (2) and Valorminho (1), totalling 29 MW.
As part of the Mota‐Engil Group, EGF is a key player in the environmental sector and a leader in waste treatment and recovery in Portugal.
Motor‐generator maintenance in main EGF Group companies began in early 2017, and by the end of 2018, through this partnership, Manvia was providing this service at 8 of the 11 group companies, always with a view to ensure the best financial profitability in all interventions.
In January 2019, following two years of negotiations, a framework contract was signed for the provision of maintenance
services on the motor‐generators, which includes performance indicators and related penalties, plus the carrying out of baseline situation audits to analyse the status and functioning of the motor‐ generators covered under the contract.
During the two years of this partnership, Manvia proposed some changes to the facilities in order to benefit the service life of the equipment, and Amarsul, in Palmela, responded positively to the challenge and was the first to move forward.
To this end, Manvia’s department of Energy and Engineering helped design
a biogas dryer for the motor‐generators, taking advantage of the existing equipment in the Amarsul installation, significantly reducing the initial cost of the project and increasing the quality of biogas as a fuel.
Manvia’s workshop in Alverca also had
a part in this project, building a stainless steel condensate tank and installing
all piping and equipment holding accessories.
