MAMF ANNOUNCES THE FIRST EDITION OF THE
MANUEL ANTÓNIO DA MOTA AWARD IN ANGOLA
THE AWARD WILL RECOGNISE PROJECTS OF MERIT CARRIED OUT BY NON‐GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS IN ANGOLA.
T he Manuel António da Mota Foundation announced the
launch of the “Manuel António da Mota Award – A Life in Angola”, in a ceremony held in Luanda and attended
by the President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço.
The 1st edition of this annual award will be held in 2020, with the objective of acknowledging charitable institutions with recognised achievements in areas of social solidarity, covering health
and education in the most vulnerable communities, much like the Manuel António da Mota Award that the MAMF has been awarding in Portugal for the last nine years.
The opening ceremony was presided over by António Mota, chairman of the
Board of Directors of the Mota‐Engil Group, who recalled that this award
“is intended not only to pay homage to those in Angola who fight for the social well‐being of those most in need, but also
leaves a fitting reminder of the good man my father was”. António Mota continued, saying that “Mota‐Engil’s social work in Angola is carried out every day, and it’s an obligation for all those who work here”.
