IN THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OF THE YEAR 2018
THIS COMPETITION HAS BECOME ONE OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS PLATFORMS FOR THE POLISH CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.
The Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Engineering Technicians (PZITB) has been hosting for several years the national Construction Project of the
Year competition (XXIX Budowa Roku) in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development and the Office of Construction Control.
This competition has become one of the most prestigious platforms to showcase the projects achieved by the Polish construction industry. The awarded and
distinguished projects are characterised by modern technological solutions, high performance, excellent organisation
of the construction process, safe working conditions, and a high level of environmental protection.
PZTIB awarded the title of 2018 Construction Project of the Year to the contract for the design and construction of the S3 Motorway, in Lower Silesia, in the section between the Lubin Północ and the Jawor Wschód road junctions, which was
divided into three phases, one of which, with about 11.3 km of length, was the responsibility of Mota‐Engil, having been completed and opened to the public in 2018.
An integral part of this contract was the construction of two intersections – Lubin Zachód and Lubin Południe – and nine reinforced concrete structures, as well as 12 access roads for local traffic.
Being part of a mining zone, the design and applied structural solutions had to adapt to the mining area category.
